During the 7th European Research Conference on Microfinance, the winners of the Best Graduate Paper Award, sponsored by e-MFP were announced:
- 1st place: Patrick Murhula Cubaka from the University of Mons for his paper 'Does size really matter? Membership and Performance of Financial Cooperatives'.
- 2nd place: Armande Mahabi Nabami from the University of Agder (UiA) for her paper 'Rotation and gender diversity in the supervision: Does this matter for women-only informal financial institutions?' which was co-authored with her supervisors Bert D'Espallier & Roy Mersland.
The awards were presented by e-MFP's Joana Silva Afonso during the first day of ERCM.
The Best Graduate Research Paper Award, established by e-MFP in 2017, aims to encourage young and early career researchers engage with microfinance and financial inclusion. It provides an opportunity to receive feedback from experienced researchers and also gain visibility within the academic community. The author of the winning paper receives 1000€, while the second place gets 500€. Both are invited to the European Microfinance Week in Luxembourg, e-MFP's annual conference on 13-15 November 2024.
