Innovations in the microfinance program planned for the coming year

The 2020-2025 technical strategy from the BANEREI Unit highlights the following objectives: Strengthening partnerships with specialized organizations working on financial services at global and country level (Care, Entrepreneurs du Monde, Fonkoze, etc.) and continue the participation to dedicated networks related to financial services and entrepreneurship (SEEP, INFINE, etc.); Support MFIs and professional networks in developing inclusive practices through technical assistance work and to formalize a tool package to be adapted to each stakeholder/context; Bring more innovation into the trainings in financial literacy and the follow-up of the beneficiaries, through digital solutions and online tools (use of apps, WhatsApp calls, online meetings with mobile phones and tablets.). HI is planning on developing more projects with a graduation model approach, which relies heavily on access to financial services, saving promotion and financial literacy. HI plans also to reinforce the support and services provided to entrepreneurs and their MSMEs to accompany their growth and improve their access to financial services through MFIs, incubators, innovative financial services. Regarding the beneficiaries, there will be a focus to include more persons with disabilities that have complex conditions, for instance multiple disabilities and intellectual disabilities. In the next five years, HI would position itself as a recognized actor in implementing economic inclusion actions, with responses that englobe the multi-dimension of extreme poverty. Deeper partnerships in the microfinance sector would reinforce the responses and the use of innovative financial products to provide access to persons with disabilities, to sustain their journey out of poverty.
