EMW2022 is back in-person in Luxembourg 16-18 November
European Microfinance Week 2022
Join us in-person from 16th – 18th November
for over 30 sessions on the critical issues and innovations in the financial inclusion sector
European Microfinance Week 2022 (EMW), taking place on 16th – 18th November, is coming up fast and preparations are in full swing! We’re excited to gather in-person once again in Luxembourg: after 2 years of virtual EMW, we are more than ready to meet face-to-face – but for those who can’t travel, we also offer a virtual hybrid experience with many sessions available online.
e-MFP is proud to host one of the top events in the financial inclusion calendar renowned as a unique meeting point for all professionals working in the sector worldwide. With an unparalleled program and prestigious speakers, the member-driven conference is widely recognised for its high-quality sessions and excellent networking opportunities.
The over 30 sessions that make up EMW are largely put forward by e-MFP’s diverse and engaged member base, and we’re very excited about the EMW 2022 line-up which is organised across several thematic streams, such as Financial Inclusion that Works for Women’ (the topic of the European Microfinance Award 2022), green and climate-smart finance, digitalisation, funding, financial health, and social performance and impact, among others. There will be over 25 breakout sessions within these broader themes and will cover topic areas ranging from inclusive agri-insurance to women’s leadership, to regulation for funds, mobile money, biodiversity, Fintechs, MSME finance, refugees, WASH, and food security, to name just some.
These breakout sessions will be supplemented by four plenary sessions: an opening plenary on how to making digital finance responsible; another on understanding women’s needs - to kick off the EMA2022 topic stream; another that will look at the emerging concept of ‘financial health’, and the role financial education can play in achieving it; and a closing plenary that will be audience interactive, and bring together representatives of different stakeholder groups to discuss things to look forward to, things to worry about, and things for the sector to be proud of.
In addition, there will be several Action Group (AG) meetings, plus some closed, invitation only sessions, breakfast events, networking sessions, a semi-structured ‘meet and greet’ based on AG research streams, and a state-of-the-art conference platform and app for both in-person and remote attendees to use.
We also look forward to hearing the announcement of the winner of the €100,000 European Microfinance Award 2022 ‘Financial Inclusion that Works for Women’ during the ceremony at the European Investment Bank on 17th November, to which all EMW participants are invited.
“The last two, online Microfinance Weeks were a learning experience and generally extremely well received, but there is no substitute for the rich discussion, opportunities for exchange and new connections made that you can only get in-person”, says Christoph Pausch, e-MFP’s Executive Secretary of e-MFP.
“But for those who cannot come to Luxembourg, we’re making sure that a state-of-the-art online platform allows remote participants to get as much of that experience as possible, and that we can also involve a wider network of expert speakers, especially from financial service providers and those working in remote and low-income communities. We hope you can join us in Luxembourg, or online, for what we know will be a fascinating few days”.
EMW 2022 is the ideal opportunity to keep on top of the most recent innovations, trends and opportunities in the inclusive finance sector – don’t miss out!
