New faces on the e-MFP Board

During the e-MFP General Meeting of Members held online on the 2nd December, several new board members were elected. We would like to wecome and introduce Alain Lévy from BNP Paribas, Lucia Spaggiari from MFR and Laura Viganò from University of Bergamo

During the e-MFP General Meeting of Members held online on the 2nd December, several new board members were elected. We would like to wecome and introduce Alain Lévy from BNP Paribas, Lucia Spaggiari from MFR and Laura Viganò from University of Bergamo:


Alain Lévy, BNP Paribas


Alain joined BNP Paribas in 2001 after a four year experience as an external auditor for Ernst & Young. He first headed the financial controls division of CIB's Paris IT Banking plateform in the IT & Operations department. From 2004 to 2007, he has worked in "General Inspection" in different countries like England, Hong-Kong, India, Panama, Peru, Singapore and Tokyo. In 2007 he was appointed Associate Regional Head of Corporate Coverage Latin America and New Markets. Since 2010, he is Head of Microfinance for Corporate and Investment Banking. He develops microfinance activities in Americas and Asia. He also coordinates the implementation of a social business offer in BNPP retail network in California


Lucia Spaggiari, MFR


Lucia is Innovation Director at MFR, where she is in charge of the new business lines, partnerships and delivery channels. She is a member of MFR’s Management Team and contributes to the development of new services and the upgrade of MFR’s methodologies, including the ATLAS data platform. Lucia joined MFR in 2005 as an analyst and acquired an extensive field experience with 90+ field assignments in 44 countries worldwide. Lucia holds an MSc in Economics and Management of Public Administration and International Organizations from Bocconi University (Italy).


Laura Viganò, University of Bergamo



Laura is Full Professor of Banking, Insurance and Microfinance at the University of Bergamo. She holds a Ph.D. in Finance and Capital Markets (University of Bergamo). As part of the Ph.D. program she was a visiting instructor at The Ohio State University (Rural Finance Group). Coordinator of the Findev (Finance and Development) research group at the University of Bergamo. Founder and Director of the first international Master in Microfinance, offered by the University of Bergamo and CIPSI (2001-2010). The programme originated in Giordano Dell'Amore Foundation (Finafrica – Milan) where, from 1995 to 2005, she was permanent consultant and scientific director. Editor of the Journal Savings and Development. She has worked particularly in Africa and in the Middle East, on technical assistance and research projects, with a special focus on (rural) financial intermediaries, credit risk management and credit scoring applications, natural/weather risks and insurance. She also publishes on ethics and banking.
